XC fuse diagram

December 8th, 2011

Question:

I can’t find the car manual, so I need to know what fuses are what on my XC Barina. Does someone have a fuse diagram online or what the numbers represent? You know in a time gone by it was stamped inside the fuse cover, now all you get is numbers.
In particular, I am wishing to locate the cigar lighter fuse, to determine if it’s the fuse thats blown or something else.

November 24th, 2011

Question:

So i attempted installing a short shifter linkage to my car yesterday and all was going well. Was a straight swap and go process but when everything went together i tried selecting gears in my car.
I can get 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th & reverse but no 2nd!
the gearstick position appears to be sitting near the 5th gear area and wont go anywhere.
Does anybody know how to do a gear shifter linkage adjustment?

Weird knocking noise

October 28th, 2011

Question:

I was driving on my Opel Corsa B and felt a random knocking noise under the passenger footwell. Went and had a check underneath and didn’t find anything. The knocking has turned into thuds this morning and I’m starting to get worried. Can anyone suggest what it could be? Knocking only happens when the is no acceleration. It’s on the left side where the gearbox is.

Fuel Type 91 or 95 for Corsa?

July 24th, 2011

Question:

Having just purchased an SB BArina, I was doing what all good new owners do……reading the handbook.

I came across a mention about a Fuel Coding Plug allowing you to flick over from 91 octane to 95 octane fuel.
Now, apart from handing over more cash to the fuel companies, what is the benefit of switching to 95 R.O.N?

Water Softener In Auto Detailing

September 9th, 2010

What is considered hard water and what are the degrees of hardness? Well very hard water would be 10.5 grains per gallon and 180 parts per million and above. But you need to realize that even moderately hard water of 3.5 to 7 grains per gallon and 60-120 parts per million will leave hard water spots. Slightly hard water such as 1 to 3.5 grains per gallon and 17.1 to 60 part per million will not leave noticeably hard water spots that you cannot cure with a chamois. But really as a professional auto detailer you are really looking for soft water of less than 1 grain per gallon and 17 parts per million.

Help fitting footwell neons

July 30th, 2009

Question:

Bought a white neon strip thingy from Autobarn today (thanks Nico btw) but don’t have a clue how to wire it all up.

It came with a cigarette lighter adapter attached, which I’ve now taken apart and that’s as far as I’ve got. I want to wire it up so that they only come on when the doors are open or the car is unlocked. So I’m guessing that I need to fit it via the courtesy light somehow.

Emissions light on and car wont start

July 30th, 2009

Question:

Went down to the shops this morning, car started and drove fine. When i came back to the car to drive home, it started then died pretty much straight away and the emissions light came on.

If i try to start it now, the starter motor is working but there’s no life in the engine at all. Another strange thing is that none of my dash lights are coming on except for the emissions light and the seat belt warning (which is on a timer). Normally as soon as the key gets to ‘on’ the dash lights up like a christmas tree but not now.
